I just tried that View thingy, and it works. The only problem is I lost a
couple of buttons I liked, but I have other ways to work around that.
I suspect one of the updates on June 11 caused this problem - the villan is
- Microsucks!

The Windows Live Toolbar has been causing such problems for months now. Go
figure!
NB: You may just need to uninstall it and then install the current build.
YMMV.

Thank you. What is amazing in some of what sounded like good technical advice
is that I was directed to disable 3rd-party plug-ins and boot-up in safe
mode, and/or with many of the start-up programs disabled. The multiple tab
connecting message and iexplore process freezing occurred subsequent to a
June 11th update. Whenever I initiated a multiple tab instance, I had to go
to Task Manager to manually kill the iexplore process to close the IE 7
session that kept asking me if I wanted to close all tabs, but refused to
close. The IE7 window icon on the task bar simply defaulted to IE7 with no
other tab name info. The computer was a simple file server using only
Microsoft software. I could not figure out what 3rd party software the
Microsoft folks has in mind. Maybe I should replace the Microsoft stuff.
