Doubleclick.net clickthroughs not working in IE?

I have a client who's posted some ads on a local newspaper site, but
when they use IE 7 on XP to test the click through, it just gets stuck
at connecting and the client's web site never appears.  When they use
Firefox, it works fine.

The newspaper says IE 7 works for them, and I've successfully tried IE
7 from my own machines, so it's some setting on my client's IE 7.  Any
suggestions?  The ads are linked through doubleclick.net.

Thanks
David

Hi David

I've had a similar problem since installing IE7 security update KB950759.
When I remove the update using the 'add and remove programs' menu on the
control panel, IE7 works fine.  Something not quite right with the update it
would seem....

Most, or at least many, anti-spyware programs block doubleclick.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed?  What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?  What third-party firewall
(if any)?  [Sounds like a customized HOSTS file is in use.]
