Everytime I follow a link that leads to ONLY a video, Internet Explorer asks
tells me to download it.
I think it probably has to do with my registered video viewing software, but
I am not sure how to fix it if it is.
How can I make it so I dont have to download the linked video?
This has just been a problem for me on Vista.
I want it to just take me to another page where I can watch the video, like
it used to in Windows 2000 and XP.

Load Windows Media Player.
Options
Steal back all the filetype associations.

You might want to configure the other UNIDENTIFIED multimedia player to
NOT automatically steal filetype associations.
