I wanted to make an update. I have tried installing Vista service pack and
still have them same problem. Since most links don't open at all I have
noticed that some try to open two windows. If I stop the process on either
window then refresh it will open. Of course both window are the same though.
Any ideas?

I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. You might have incompatible add-ons:
Go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools
and click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. Read this
article first:
How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES):

Note that the Reset IE Settings button will delete AutoComplete data (such
as passwords.) Do you have those backed up?
3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Thanks Frank for the tips. I have spent about three hours trying all the
things in your post and none have helped. I have finally decided to reload my
operating system. Of course it all works now. A tech at Gateway told me that
Kodak easyshare is probably causing all my operating system problems. I guess
I won't install it for awhile but I'm a real estate broker and will need it.
Have you heard of this?

I had to remove Kodak Easy Share from my wife's machine. I don't remember
what her symptoms were, though.
