Problems with Java not loading

Hi all,

I have Win XP SP2 and IE7. I use ParaChat, a Java chat applet. I have been using it
for a couple of months without any problems, but today when I navegated to the usual
page, instead of the button to launch the applet I got a text saying "Sorry, your browser
does not have Java". I refreshed the page and then exited and re-entered IE7 and then
got this message:

"The Java Runtime Environment can not be loaded"

What does that mean? It worked fine yestarday and the days before that. I checked
the custom level Internet security settings, but did not see anything off. I also Googled
but most of the posts were from past years or were from people who installed the JRE
and then got that message. I did not install or configure anything on the PC. I restarted
the PC and when I navegated to the page I got the yellow band at the top of the client
area. It wanted to install an ActiveX component. I gave it persmission to do so, but then
I got another message stating:

"Windows has blocked this software because it can't verify the publisher."

I exited and refreshed and now I got this message:

"Several Virtual Machines running in the same process caused an error."

I will continue searching and have a look at it when I get home tonight (all these tests
were done by some one else sitting at the PC). Is anyone else experiencing this
behavior? Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hi,

You might take a look here with regard to the "Several Virtual Machines
running in same process error"

Good luck,

When I got home and fired up my PC (WIn XP SP2) and IE7 and navegated
to the page the button to start the Java chat client was there. I clicked it
and was able to start the program without any problems - which is really
unsettling, since I have no idea why the errors described in the OP surfaced
and I have no idea why they simply "vanished". I will keep an eye out for
this problem and apply the workarounds given on the page of the link that
that you provided.

Regards,
