Hi All,

How can you inform Microsoft that there is a Magic Bug in Internet
Explorer that can be repeated?

Magic Bug: Internet Explorer is open in Web Mail and you open a message.
You go to a Forum to read the message at the Forum. You click Reply to
answer. Now you click Submit to post your respond, which has been accepted.
Since you don't need to see your posted respond, you close the Tab.

That's when the bug comes into play. After you see that you will
redirected to your post, you close the tab before you are redirected. After
you closed the tab, additional Windows are being opened of Internet
Explorer. The only way to stop additional Windows from opening up, is to
bring up Task Manager. Click Processes. Highlight iexplore.exe and click End
Process and answer Yes.

This is so repeatable. You don't even to go to Webmail, just post a
message in any forum, and close the Tab before you view the post.

IE Beta newsgroup is not appropriate for IE7 questions.

1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode?  To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or

Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

2. Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 <= Read before using!

3. If you uninstall (a) IE7 *exactly* per the link below (which
automatically returns you to IE6), (b) all toolbars and (c) all third-party
Windows Themes (including Window Blinds) and do NOT reinstall IE7, does this
behavior persist?  If it does, do NOT reinstall IE7.

Uninstalling IE7

[Only use the Command %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe if you cannot
uninstall via Add/Remove Programs!]

IE7 (Un)Installation and Anti-Malware Applications:

4. Required reading IMHO before reinstalling IE7:

Sandi's Installation Tips <= Steps #1-8, #10 & #11; take note of #12, then
STOP
http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install

I strongly recommend using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.

Direct Download link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9ae91ebe-3385-447c-8a30

Tip: Save the installer to your desktop, do not Run it.

5. Make *certain* that you check in at Windows Update immediately after
reinstalling IE7 to install any critical updates offered.  If Optional
Updates category offers Root Certificates update, I recommend installing it
to take full advantage of IE7's additional security.

Hi PA Bear,

The problem does not persist when running in No add-ons mode.

The only Toolbar being used is RoboForm and the Lexmark Printer Toolbar.
This occurred before installing the Lexmark Toolbar. I checked Add-ons and
there wasa Privacy toolbar from McAfee which I disabled.

Older versions of Roboform Toolbar are known to cause such behavior.
Uninstall it via Add/Remove Programs & reboot.  If you can't live without
it, download/install the current version.

The McAfee toolbar might be OK.  Only testing with it enabled and disabled
will tell.

Hi PA Bear,

RoboForm Toolbar is the very latest 6.9.89 version.

Uninstall it anyway and see if the behavior persists.  Sometimes the
problem's due to a /combination/ of third-party toolbars, not any one
toolbar itself.
