I can't get Flash videos/applets to work all places.
Like on YouTube the videos on the help page works.
But all other say I need a newer version of Flash, but reinstalling
does not help.
Have tried all other hints on the net (registry permissions etc).
For Firefox, Opera and Safari the behaviour is the same all places.
Some Flash applets work, others not.

But, on my one computer this happens in IE8 as well, on the other IE8
works. All of this started after the lastes automatic Flash update.

Have tried uninstalling, cleaning etc, no help.
And the player DOES work, but only on some pages :-(
Adobes own test page does not work :-(

Try uninstalling / reinstalling Flash Player. Use the uninstaller at
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
Flash player download:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
If there are still problems see
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=fb1634cb

Error message when you try to open an ActiveX control-based MIME handler in
Windows Internet Explorer 7: "Invalid character"

Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that prevent the
Flash Player Installation.

Tried them all :-(  That's why I'm asking.
I've even cleaned the registry myself.
The Flash player must be installed since some applets work.
And SWF files can be draggen to the browser and played.
Still some sites says that I need to install a newer version.

If you've tried all of Frank's suggestions to not avail, and all the
suggestions here:
http://help.youtube.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=56115&src=top5&lev=
Including the "Windows Vista users" instructions, to no avail.

Then you might try opening a Web Case with Adobe about your issues with the
Flash Player.  I believe they offer free Flash Player installation support
through the means of a "Web Case" available through the Adobe Support
Portal.

Good luck,

The strange thing is that the video on that help page WORKS.
But not the videoes in the Youtube archive (or the Adobe test page).

Noticed something very strange.

While the YouTube videoes doesn not work (only the "you either have
JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player")

IF I cut out the code to embed the video in my page (like "<object
width="425" height="344"><param name="movie"
value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xwgCmkA9wcU&hl=en"></param><embed
src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xwgCmkA9wcU&hl=en"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425"
height="344"></embed></object>")

THEN save that as a HTML-page

THEN open that

THEN IT WORKS !!!

So it is not Flash not working, it's something with the page code
that makes it think you don't have Flash (even if you really do).

Otherwise the emmedded link shouldn't have worked either, right?
