I am having the same problem in my Administrator Account, but not in my
Primary User Account.  I am using Windows XP Professional with SP3 with all
of the latest security updates and Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13.

I had been attempting unsuccessfully to load the full function driver
available on the HP Support Website for the Photosmart 2610.  I had disabled
my Norton 360 Version 2 Virus Scanning and Firewall.

I could access the HP driver from my Primary User Account which has full
Administrator functionality.  When the installation failed.  I went to my
Administrator Account and encountered the Stack Overflow.  As a result, I
could not get to a key subfolder in my IE Favorites.  I closed the Google and
Norton Menu Bars in IE 7 without success.  I then reverted to my Primary User
Account but was no more successful in troubleshooting the driver installation
failure despite working with HP's tech support.

This morning I am still encountering the IE Stack Overflow on Line 83.

Any suggestions?

1.  No Norton Program is really disabled until it is uninstalled and this
utility is run:

2  When I have seen HP's Photo Smart software installed the owner was unable
to print until it was uninstalled.

Frank -
Thanks for getting back to me.

I have 2 questions:
1) I want to make make sure I understand what you are saying.  Do I have to
totally uninstall Norton 360 in order to properly install a Photosmart
driver?  That's amazing.  If I really have to choose, I want the Norton 360
functionality.  The Photosmart, while great, is a network printer and could
be dispensible, since both of our computers have a functioning HP printer
attached to them.

2) In what way is this related to the Stack Overflow problem which I am
experiencing in my Administrator Account, not my Primary User Account which I
was using when I attempted to install the Photosmart driver since it has full
Administrators functionality?  Or is something else causing the Stock
Overflow?

Again thanks,
Tad

As far as I know they're separate issues.  But also as far as I know both
cause considerable problems.  I will agree that there may be others out
there who have not had problems with them, but I don't know them.

The comment about Norton was merely that disabling it often does no good if
it's the source of problems..

Wow!  That was quick.

Re: the Stack Overflow problem, I am going to try the suggestions you made
in your 6/16/2008 6:59 AM PST post concerning: "Error: Stack overflow at
Line: 82"
