I recently purchased a laptop with vista. It also has ie7. (apparently ie6 is
not compatible with vista).
Also at one point I upgraded to ie7 on an xp pc and problem still occurred.
The problem is the watchlist section of myfidelity daily is blank. It never
loads, never has on any ie7. Works on ie6 and firefox 3.0.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it a missing add-on or plug-in?
I have cleared the browser cache and every other suggestion I can find
nothing works.
Thanks
I found the answer. Apparently there are a few sites that do not recognize
IE7 for all or part of their content. Fidelity is one of these, at least for
the watchlist on Myfidelity Daily.
There is a utility program that you can download from Microsoft that tricks
the site into thinking you have IE6. It is called Internet Explorer User
Agent String Utility v2.0
This works. Microsoft recommends that you notify the site of this problem. I
did and Fidelity says this is a known problem but they have no plans to fix
it as they are in the process of redoing the Myfideliy Daily page.
Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem.

This is a common issue, particularly for large organizations that are
heavily invested in custom software. It can take a great deal of time
for organizations to test applications under a new environment, whether
that means a new browser or some other update to client software, and to
adapt their applications as needed.
Microsoft provides a utility that allows IE 7 to identify itself as IE
6. This can sometimes benefit users who need to interact with
institutions that, for one reason or another, have not yet made their
software IE 7-aware.
There's nothing magical about Microsoft's utility - it merely changes
the user agent string. You can change the user agent string to anything.
For example, this can sometimes make it possible for Firefox to work
with websites that specify Internet Explorer.
