After installing IE 7 my email use has slowed down considerably. I use it
very frequentl and the lost seconds add too much time. When I am in Gmail
and click on "Compose Mail" or "Read Mail", etc. it takes between 8 and 10
seconds to open. Prior to IE 7 it was instantaneous. I switched over to my
Firefox to see if the same thing happended and it opens immediately. What do
you think causes this? I would really prefer to stay with IE but if it
cannot be corrected I will have to use Firefox. Is there a way to go back to
IE 6 without losing anything? Please advise.

Hi,
Assuming Windows XP...
IE7 should uninstall cleanly without loss of data (favorites, cookies, etc.)
From Add or remove programs check the "Show updates" box so that Windows
Internet Explorer 7 will appear in the list.
However, I would try these steps before uninstalling IE7.
1. Disable the IE7 Phishing filter. See if that helps.
2. Clear the Temporary Internet Files.
3. From IE> Tools> Manage add-ons, disable a few add-ons at a time to see if
the slowness goes away. A third-party browser add-on may be causing the
problem.
Hope this helps,
Don

1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:
Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or
Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

2. Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 <= Read before using!
3. If you uninstall (a) IE7 *exactly* per the link below (which
automatically returns you to IE6), (b) all toolbars and (c) all third-party
Windows Themes (including Window Blinds) and do NOT reinstall IE7, does this
behavior persist? If it does, do NOT reinstall IE7.

I strongly recommend using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.

Tip: Save the installer to your desktop, do not Run it.
5. Make *certain* that you check in at Windows Update immediately after
reinstalling IE7 to install any critical updates offered. If Optional
Updates category offers Root Certificates update, I recommend installing it
to take full advantage of IE7's additional security.
