Please help ,
I can no longer select the item "start memory protection...." under
IE7->tool->option->advance->security the item is gray coloured.
Is that means my computer is infected?

Hi,
Are you referring to Internet Options> Security> "Enable Protected Mode?"

Is UAC (User Account Control) enabled from Control Panel> User Accounts?

You may have to change this from an administrator account. Is your User
Account an administrator account?

It's also possible that a Group Policy is preventing this change.

Hi Don,
Thanks for your reply, the item is under IE |Tools|Option|advance setting|
tab (sorry, I am using Chinese version of Vista, so I do not know the english
descript of this item, but its below "XMLHTTP" selection).Since my Asus
laptop can also Launch another IE by using the hotkey, under that IE, the
subject selection is NOT grayed, so I asume is nothing to do with UAC or
group settings (I guess !)......can you think of any other cause(s)
Thanks again

Hi,
In your first IE window, is "Turn on safety filter" also grayed out from IE>
Tools?

Not all versions of Vista have Group Policy available. If you go to Start>
Run> (type in) gpedit.msc, does Policy Editor open? Sorry, I can't translate
that into Chinese  ;-)

Are you running a third-party security program which includes a phishing
filter?

Hi,
I am using Vista Home Premium with IE 7.06001
I can't open up the Group Policy functions as the "gpedit" file is not
there, and I have installed ESET NOD32 antivirus / antispyware but if this is
the program that caused the "gray out " shouldn't that the second IE will
also be modified??? I have also compared the items from a english version of
IE 7.05 in a XP machine, it doesn't have the subject item and much lesser
items then mine (due to XP or IE ?) I hope I am over reacting on this one but
still bugs me
Thanks for your reply, please post it again if you think of something
