Problem: Not sending e-mails

I have two Hotmail accounts, both of which I run through OE.

In the last three or four days, whenever I try to send e-mails from the one
account via OE, I get an error message saying I am not logged onto that
Hotmail account.

This is despite the fact that it is still *downloading* new messages for
that account, and therefore *must be* logged in as soon as my dial-up
connection is completed.

So, the only thing I know of to do off the top of my head is to physically
log into this particular Hotmail account on the web when I get this message.
Then, at the next send-and-receive cycle, the messages go. However,
sometimes, if I send messages later from that same account, I get the same
error message again.

IE Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Custom (or Sites)> type in

   hotmail.com

and Allow All Cookies.

If the problem persists, it's probably on Hotmail's end and you'll just have
to live with it until they clear it up.

Probably OT: You're running very outdated and much less-secure versions of
OE, IE and Windows.  Please visit Windows Update ASAP.

I'm getting something similar (see post 'Access denied); is this a transient
problem at Hotmail's end, does anyone know?

Oh, as with others, it's definitely Hotmail's problem. As I noted, it just
does this with one of my two Hotmail accounts, the one **not** marked in OE
as my default mail. Can't be IE, either, whether 5 or 6, because I don't
have one Hotmail account configured differently than the other and hadn't
had this prob until the past week.

I wasn't that worried before Microsoft's big patch announcement this week.
Wasn't hugely worried after that, though I have installed upgrades. (Bought
this computer used about two months ago.)
I have my IE security settings on High and OE configured to not open any
attachment of any format from anybody, even friends.
If it's something I know I need, I forward it to my work e-mail and open it
there on a Mac. :)

Your settings at IE Tools>...>Privacy are applied in OE, Steve.
