Hi All........
I have AMD 1.2Ghz, 512MB RAM, IE5, OE5..........my Sent Items file got so
large that it will not open.  I can rename it and start a new one and
Outlook Express continues to function, but what I want to know is there any
way I can get that old sent Items file open so that I can retrieve some
messages from it?

TIA
Vaya con Dios,

If any DBX file gets over 2 GB OE can't access it.

Even before that, the larger a DBX file gets the more prone to
corruption it is.   It's best to keep them under a few hundred MB.

At this point you can try some recovery utilities.

DBXtract - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx
DBXpress - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx
DBXtend - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtend/Default.aspx
OEX Enhancements - Import/Export/Resend/Duplicates/Attachments, etc.
http://www.oehelp.com/OEX/Default.aspx

The cheapest program (DBXtract) could take days to process a large DBX
file.

Thanks Michael for that............hmmmm, mine is only a little over 400K,
so maybe now that I've run AdWare and Spybot and RegistryMech, and OE5 seems
to be a little more stable,  I might try to rename them again and see if it
will open before purchasing a special program...

At least I know that it's possible now.......thanks much.

Well, I went back and tried it again, after my "cleanup", and it still
wouldn't open.....so I guess all that's left is to try one of the retireval
programs...........
Thanks much for your time and  advice Michael........

Hi all-

A friend is having problems sending pictures with her Outlook Express.  She
is running XP.
When she sends there is a script error.
And the mail never shows up in the outbox.

As received the mail has the outline of the picture with that dreaded red
'x' in the upper corner.

What can be causing this?

Thanks in advance.

Tools | Options | Send
Click HTML settings under Mail settings and make sure the option to send
images with messages is checked.

If that doesn't fix it please give us the complete error message.

You mention that the message never shows up in her Outbox.  If the
message never made it there, you would never receive it.  The Outbox is
to temporarily store messages until they can be sent to the mail server.
Once they are sent, the message is normally moved to the Saved Items
folder.

Perhaps this is her issue:

Problem Inserting Image: Error 195, "undefined" is null or not an object
Tools, Options, Security: switch OE from the Restricted Zone to the
Internet Zone. Then insert the image or do the paste.  You can then
switch back to the Restricted Zone.  Or you can edit the Restricted Zone
custom level settings in to allow paste via a script (Internet Explorer:
Tools, Internet Options, Security).
