I have been using outlook express as a newsgroup reader for many years.

Which is the recommended way of cleaning up the messages no longer required.

I notice that if I "mark as read" it is set not to display the messages -
are these messages still kept on the system?

also I see that I can delete the messages by highlighting and pressing
delete.

as it is my wish only to keep topics that are of interest- is it better to
"delete" or to "mark as read"

best regards
