I have a customer who is having a problem loading up our company's web page. The page uses an ActiveX control to present a login feature in the page.
When the downloaded ActiveX control exists in the c:\winnt\downloaded program files directory, the page hangs when loading. No error message is generated. If the control is deleted from the c:\winnt\downloaded program files directory, the user is prompted to accept the control. After selecting Yes to download the control, the page loads correctly and all is fine.
In talking with their local tech over the phone, he mentioned they have tightened security and the clients log into an AD configuration running on a domain controller. Also included is a firewall/proxy server configuration, but the tech was unable to give me the vendor or version. This started occuring 3 days ago, with no apparent change in configuration. The tech did acknowledge that all computers are configured for auto-update of the OS. I had the tech change the Internet Zone security setting from Custom to Low, but no difference in the page load. I have configured a Win2k computer with an identical patch and service pack level installed, but was unable to duplicate this problem.
The customer is using various OS including win2k, winxp and winnt and appears to be happening on all computers.
Any ideas would be greatly welcome.
TIA,
Ken

Ken,
I am having the exact same problem with a CMS system at the company I
work for. The CMS admin pages basically loads up a series of ActiveX
components and it works usually but sometimes just hangs during
loading.
What was your resolve if any?
Shion Abdillah.
