Hey there.  I am running Windows XP Pro and have been using Internet
Explorer 6 and Windows Media Player 10 for quite a while now without
any issues at all.  A couple of mornings ago I got up and went to the
sites I regularly visit.  I visited MySpace.com and noticed that my
page's music video was just a blank window.  I assumed this had
something to do with the link to the video, so I tried changing it to a
new video with no luck.  Every time, the video would show up as a blank
window with a small graphic in the upper left-hand corner (a lot like
you get when you don't have Java installed and you're trying to load a
java object).  I finally gave up and went about my day as usual,
leaving the "broken" video still on my page.  I came back that
afternoon and went to my MySpace page to find that IE instantly crashed
upon loading the page.  I tried several more times with the same
result, so I asked one of my friends to check it out and tell me if it
crashed his browser and was promptly told that it didn't.  I logged
into my MySpace account under the site's "Safe Mode" option and deleted
the video out of my page.  I opened the page again and it worked
perfectly.  I went to a friend's page that had a video on it and the
browser instantly crashed.  Since then I have tried re-installing
Windows Media Player, using WinAmp and Real Player, and even tried
using Firefox, and I am still having this problem with embedded video.
I can't view any Windows format video (wmv, asx, etc.) streaming from
the internet.  If I try to "Open URL" in Windows Media player, WinAmp,
or Real Player it simply crashes the player and offers the option to
send an error report.  If I open a page that has embedded video in it,
Internet Explorer (or Firefox) crashes instantly.  I am able to play
the streaming files from the internet by going to "Start
Menu/Run/mplayer2.exe" but this doesn't solve the embedded video issue.
I can, of course, turn those video types off in WMP and it will simply
not play, but I would like to be able to watch embedded video and
streaming video without having to copy/paste URL's into WMP 6.4.
