If I have deleted the IE 5 icon from my desktop at home (due to some
corruption I contacted while surfing), might it still be available to
re-start or reinstate?  Where do I look?  This has been a year or more ago
and I don't recall the reasons or the reactions, but I've been using Firefox
or Navigator after I access the Internet via AOL.  I much prefer IE as I use
it at my work.  Is it possible that could I have permanently deleted the
entire IE program?

Yeah, I realized that was missing after I left the office.  It's Version 98
SE and I found that it is IE Ver. 6, Service Pack 1.0 I believe.  Should I
repost in the IE 6 Discussion Group?  I did some searching and found some
programs and other IE related files, so I think it may still be there.  I
would just like to get it back and the icon on my bottom tray.   Thank you.

Let's work on the IE desktop icon first.  Win98's settings have faded from
my memory but you might try:

Right-click anywhere on desktop > Properties > Desktop (tab) > Customize
desktop > Desktop icons: Is IE checked here?

Let's keep this conversation here but post future questions to IE6 Browser,
yes.

Click "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Internet Options", "Advanced"
and in the "Browsing" box, see if there is an option for "Show Internet
Explorer on desktop".  If so, make sure it is checked.  You may have to
restart the computer for the change to take effect.
