IE5 Page cannot be displayed after defrag and stop

I started a defrag, but stopped it after about 30
minutes. Since then I was unable to get IE5.0 to display
a web page. I connect to the ISP. I had to reinstall TCP
to get the network to talk to other comnputers again. What
else could be corrupted? HELP!!. I'm running win 98SE and
I do not have the original Win disk, since I bought this
laptop second hand and all was installed. How do I get the
files needed if I need some?
