Hello:

How is everyone .. busy busy I guess?

I was able to download ie55sp2 in its entirety, unpacked
the executable and now have an installation folder with
several zipped files related to the install.

So how do I actually activate the download to install IE
5.5 sp2 on my WIN95 Compaq laptop?  How do I proceed?

Thanks team!

Find the file ie5setup.exe, double click that and you should be good to go.

When installing IE, it's best to first do a power-off reboot, then disable any anti-virus program you may have running, then do a CTRL+ALT+DEL and End Task on everything on the list except (Windows) Explorer and Systray.  This method will help prevent any program you may have running in the background, and the anti-virus software, from interfering with the install of IE.  Some AV software just plain messes up an install of IE, and other programs may be using a file that IE needs to update/replace/remove.

Now that you have it on your machine, just run SETUP in the root directory
of the install data.
