Recently I've experienced a problem in my OutLook Express
5 mail. I receive email message ok but I cannot send new
email messages or forward email messages. I get the
following error message:
"An unknown error has occurred. Subject Fw:
Account: mail.earthlink.net, Server: mail.earthlink.net,
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure (SSL): No, Error Number:
0x800CCC0B".
I'm running Windows 95 with Internet Explorer 5.5 and
Outlook Express 5.
I would appreciate it if someone can tell me how to
correct this problem. Thank you.

The error message just indicates the server is busy. It may be that you are
trying to poll for new messages too frequently or your ISP (earthlink) is
just overwhelmed in your area.
0x800CCC0B BUSY Server or maildrop is busy.
The only remedy is to contact your ISP and ask for assistance. It also
could be caused by having an antivirus program set to scan all incoming
email and if you do that, I'd suggest disabling that option and testing. AV
scanning is nothing more than a waste of CPU cycles and causes problems with
timeouts while the messages on the server are scanned. You are still
protected in that any attempt to open or save an infected file will cause
your AV program to flash a warning (assuming you keep it updated daily
before opening any mail).
