At the outset, thanks for your help. And my apolgies if this is not the
right newsgroup for my question.
Currently I use OE5.5, with Win98 and Internet Explore 6.0 (Sp1).
When I open OE it says Outlook Express 5 but fine details show it as
5.5.4522.1200. So I guess I have OE5.5.
How do I go about upgrading to OE 6. Do I need to uninstall IE 6 and then
reinstall IE6 to upgrade to OE6. If I do so what would happen to the
messages in my OE%
Thanks
-TC

Your messages should survive the install, but it's always a good idea to backup anything
of value regularly, especially before an install or uninstall.

Normally on upgrade, your old mail is automatically imported by Outlook Express.
Sometimes this fails and you need to do a manual import (File, Import). If you were
previously using OE5, select OE6 as the import type since OE5 and OE6 use the same file
formats. For more information, see:

1. Go here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
2. Disable your anti-virus application and close all open programs (e.g.,
OE, other IE window) and install IE6 SP1.
3. Reboot and return to Windows Update.
4. Disable your anti-virus application and close all open programs (e.g.,
OE, other IE window) and install all IE6 SP1 patches through and including
those released in July, August and September 2004.
5. Visit Windows Update after the second Tuesday of each month (e.g., 12
Oct-04) to see if there are new updates and patches for your system.

Your reasoning being?
I have used OE6 for POP3 mail on both Win98 and WinXP with no trouble.

I was thinking Microsoft POP3. Last time I looked, everybody and me were
having a hell of a time trying to get our POP3 back.
I am finally back to OE5.5. Whew!

I have no idea what you mean by Microsoft POP3. If you mean MSN mail,
that's HTTP mail unless you haven't updated MSN Explorer for a long time.
