I have seen it before. I am using 2000 server and have used the FROM: line
right above the TO: and CC: etc. I know it is in Outlook, but where did it go
in Express? Im not crazy? am I? HELP

You mean when creating mail?
The From line only appears when you have more than one account set up in
OE, so that you can choose which account to send from. With only one
account there is only one "from" so it doesn't appear! Hope this helps.

thanks for trying! Kath A
I have loaded many O.S. numerous times and for whatever reason, express
decides on alternating installs to include/not include the FROM: line.
I never created 2 users since it is a trial version [120 days] of 2000.
Maybe I will just use Outlook[pain in the *** ,to much going on for simple
mail]
I am in NY. You?

I didn't say "2 users", I said "two accounts"  - under the one identity.
(I never heard of a trial version of any OS).

Never had 2 accounts or 2 of anything. And getting trial versions of 2000 pro
and server and 2003 server are easy!!!
My not so big problem is the from line.
When I send e-mail for a response to a job posting, I would like to see my
e-mail at the top of the letter. not yelling but, IVE SEEN IT AND USED
IT..TIA..

You have to have two mail accounts set up for the From line to appear. If
only one email account is set up, NO FROM LINE WILL APPEAR (not yelling
either).

This goes back to at least OE5.0 bcause thats what I have set up for Win2k
on VPC2004 with only one mail account set up and Win98SE on VPC2004 with one
mail account. Four computers I have running only have one account and are OE
5.0, 5.01, 5.5 and 6.0 and no from line appears because they only have the
one mail account set up. The other three computers have multiple email
accounts set up and the From line does appear.

So, test this for yourself, set up a dummy email account and watch the From
line appear.

To re-state - You may have seen it and used it, in which case you must
have had two accounts set up. If you only have the one, then no From
line will appear. Rest assured, however, that your email address will
appear for the recipient.
And while we're at it, if you know so much about OE, why not use it as
your newsreader instead of the awful web interface that you are using
now?

Thank you very much for helping with this little problem. I went and created
a second account and with alittle tweaking it worked. Sometimes you just dont
remember the things done in the past. Never forget this one. And thank you
for the laugh :))) from your web interface comment.... Are you refering to
Mozilla???

Well...this is what I see in your headers -
X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000

which means you are using the web interface to post/read the newsgroups
rather than using OE as a newsreader.
