We are planning to move from the Netscape Messenger E-mail client (we use
version 4.7.6) to Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0. The users have IE 6.0 on
their machines as well, and since Outlook Express is part of IE,
installation of OE is not the problem.
What's left to be done by the users is:
1. Set up an Identity in OE
2. Import Local Mail from Netscape to OE
3. Import Address Books from Netscape to OE
Outlook Express does provide ways of doing all the 3 steps above through it'
s interface, but the challenge for me is that management does not want the
user to have to do anything. They want the above 3 steps to be done in an
automated way, using a script(s) that can be pushed their PC silently.
Is there a way to launch Outlook Express under the covers and go through the
Import Local Mail/Import Address Book process and Create Identity Process
through a script ??
If anyone has done anything like this before I would appreciate your input.
Also, if you know of any vendor products that can accomplish the above
scenario, please let me know.
