I removed the ie 7 beta manually (it didn't show in the control panel) and
now ANY web site I view has the colors chosen in Display
Properties:Appearance:Advanced:Item:Window - Color.   I have also confirmed
in IE that Tools:Internet Options:General:Colors does not have the checkbox
for Use Windows Colors selected.  I have also confirmed that IE that
Tools:Internet Options:General:Accessibility - Formatting boxes are NOT
checked.  I even tried uninstalling and re-installing both IE and Firefox,
but the problem persists.  I can only guess the uninstall of IE7 has forced a
registry setting, but i've been unsuccessful in finding it...   Any help
would be greatly apprecited!

This is not a good place to post for IE7 problems.

I see in  http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx that
the recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.
public.internetexplorer.general
