I have IE 5.5 with cipher strength of 128 bit & I can't
access the Sears OutLet site or even www.sears.ca. I
get "the page cannot be displayed - The page you are
looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might
be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to
adjust your browser settings" and down at the bottom it
says "Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer ". I've reset the defaults setting in
ie, enabled cookies, changed security settings to low, &
tried system restore - all didn't work. I can access any
other sites but sears in Canada. I called Sears in Canada
& they can access their site. I can access Sears in the
U.S. - that's not going to do me any good. The one only
way I can get to a Sears Canada site is to go to another
computer. Does have have any suggestions on what I can
try?

Three things to try:
1. Clear your TIF and History completely:
Win9x only -
Boot to DOS
Go to C:\Windows
type -- smartdrv -- <enter> - gets rid of all that disk thrashing
type -- deltree history -- <enter and y to verify> - to clear History
type -- deltree tempor~1 -- <enter and y to verify> - to clear TIF
Reboot
2. Check your C:\Windows\Cookies folder and delete any cookies that relate to the sites in question.
3. Check your C:\Windows\Hosts file as per this article:
