Can't edit in source...Outlook 6

I hope someone can help me in this group.
Today I just noticed that I can't edit (the source code)
in 'source'. In rich text I have the three
labels you know(Edit, Source and Preview). I can insert
a picture. I can insert sound and then I can Preview.
I can then go to edit and send. To myself. All pic's
and snd. embed, but if I would go into 'Source', before
I send the, where the<HTML> text is the area is grayed out.
Then if I go to Edit everything is gone.......Also 'Ctrl+F3'
and 'Alt+Enter' for details don't work but 'Ctrl+F2'
work find and is in HTML form....Has this ever
happened to anyone else.......I did a uninstall and a
clean setup but nothing worked......
I also check all my setting against
another PC I have networked but can't find anything
and can't find anything in google news groups...
OOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhh My, what to do, what to do. I'm sending in rich text......... Tobey

Hi Tobey,

Have you tried a full shut down and reboot? I don't know your OS but if a reboot doesn't work, can you do a repair?

Hi Vicki. Yes I did try a repair before I reinstall
it With just a blank it will do this, and fiximap.exe.
My OS is 98, odd that this is the only thing affected.
Also 'Ctrl+F3'
and 'Alt+Enter'
for details don't
work but 'Ctrl+F2'
works find and will
show the source
code...My other
Editors and Validator
works fine.....I also
can import stationery and send it but if I go into source
it'll be white, then when I go into Edit or Preview it'll
be gone, then back to Source and it'll be gray like the
insert pic......This is an oddest thing. Everything else
works in Outlook even frowarding stationery....Well
if you or anyone comes up with a solution I'll be
watching. I also posted in ie6_outlookexpress so
maybe I can get a solution. If not I'll try a full
uninstall and install..........Tobey

Hi Tobey,

This is a strange one. Are you able to view the page source when you are visiting a web
site with IE?

That is to say, when you are visiting a web site with IE and you click on VIEW||Source,
does the page source show in Notepad?

1. Have you emptied your IE cache? That often works.

2. Make sure notepad.exe is in ..C:\windows and that it is not a third party version.

3. Also, search your registry for the DWORD noviewsource. If it exists, delete it or set
it's value to 0, instead of 1.

If it's not one of these three things causing the problem I'm afraid I'm at a loss Tobey.

could be the problem. I lost my Advanced menu label
in Internet Options once and that was dew to a reg.
change...........I bet that's it. I'll keep working on it.

A lot of us lost our Advanced menu tab (among other things) several months back, but it was due to a trojan. Good Luck.

We did. Helen Zelluf posted the basic instructions for removal and then others posted supplemental information. When we all got our computers cleaned, we upgraded Microsoft Virtual Machine to upgrade 3810. That blocked it from coming back.

I'm also using Win98SE. Have you tried restoring the registry to an earlier version?
