OT - OE6 Won't Save Password

Hi,

It's been a while since I've been around here, but I lurk some and am
impressed by all the stationery. This is slightly off topic since it doesn't
pertain to stationery, but everyone here has always been so helpful. I
wonder if anyone has a thought as to why someone's Win2000 Pro machine won't
save the password in OE6? In Tools, the box is checked to Save Password, but
hit Apply or OK, leave and come right back and the field is blank with the
box still checked. He appears to have the settings correct in OE and in the
Network Properties and logs into Windows 2000 Pro (NT) with his username and
password. Interestingly enough, IE6 also does not save usernames and
passwords. I reinstalled IE6, selected the default settings, made sure Auto
Complete is enabled in the IE6 Tools, along with Save Passwords. Anyway, I
don't use Win2000 Pro, but I have in the past and this guy's machine looks
like it's set up correctly. What am I missing?

Thanks for any help.

Tony

The only thing I can think of is the off then back on theory.  Uncheck all 4
boxes in Auto Complete, reboot, check all 4 again, reboot and then see if it
will start holding the passwords.
