I recently installed OE6 on my laptop, when I receive a
document with a Word or Excel documnet I can not open. The
paper clip appears, and I can see the attachment, but it's
light. When I double click nothing happens. Any
suggestions?

Hi Mark & Bri,

Go to Tools/Options/Security and un-check the box that says do not allow attachments, and also uncheck the one that says block external content...

Hope it helps you, Cheers, Ed

I have just the reverse problem. I can open all attachments even though under
Tools/options/security i have the attachments and block content boxes
checked. My problem is with sending attachments. Typically emails  with excel
attachments dont go through. the other day, a couple of word document
attachments did not go through. So I started cutting down the size of the
attachment and they did go through ! However, this is not a solution, and i
still have to send large files (like 10MB) very often. Any ideas?

Hi RR,

It's true that most email accounts have a built in size limit.  I have one a/c with a 10 Mb and another has a 5 Mb limit.  I know of two ways to get large files to your recipients:

The easiest is to upload the file to a website and just email them the link.  This is the best netiquette...

You can also use the combine and decode feature of OE6 to break apart your message into smaller pieces...

Tools/Accounts/mail tab/properties button/advanced tab/check the box that says break apart messages >, and fill in the amount.

Now, messages larger than this amount will be sent in parts with the subject showing as what you entered plus (1 of 3), (2 of 3), etc.

Your recipient, from their inbox, just highlights each part with the ctrl key, right-click and choose Combine and Decode...

This MS server has a 100 kb limit, so I'll attach something that exceeds the limit so you can see an example...

As I said, it's preferred to just send them a link to the file...

Hope it helps.  Cheers, Ed
