I just put a new hard drive in my computer. My original hard drive had
Outlook Express 6 with XP. When I installed the new hard drive and installed
the full Home Version of Windows XP, I lost my address book, all my
messages, etc. on my original drive (or maybe I just can't find them). OE is
looking for IAF's so I did a search on my old hard drive for *.iaf and
couldn't find anything. When I installed the new drive and XP, my original
hard drive wasn't even connected. Does anyone know where OE stores these
files? They have to be on my original drive somewhere.

Thanks for your help,
Jerry

The operating systems of Windows 2000 and XP both mark those files as
hidden, so you must alter the search criteria to include searching for
hidden files (Start/Search - More Advanced Options) or make all hidden files
visible by opening Windows Explorer, Tools/Folder Options/View tab and
checking the box to "Show Hidden Files."

The messages are contained in DBX files and the contact info is in a WAB
file.  Also see this article:
