We have recently bought a new computer with xp & I have set up windows identities for each member of the family. I have now also re-set up our pre-existing email using outlook express. Previously (windows 98) we had one outlook express window with all five family identities, protected by passwords for privacy, but easy to switch between. Now I seem to have set up two OE identities (self & hubby) with passwords but only available on my xp identity: can i make this shared with hubby?? I tried setting up daughter's OE on her xp screen: this now automatically opens on her screen without a password. So if we want inter-family privacy for email, do i have to set up passwords for the individual xp identities first (a pain) or have all the email accounts on one xp identitiy with OE passwords (also a pain..) Any suggestions gratefully received
Identities are intended for several people to have their own OE but share a single Windows
logon. If each person has their own Windows logon they automatically get entirely
separate versions of OE including the address book. You have to share a Windows logon for
identities to have a shared contacts in the address book.
Passwords are optional for XP logons and are optional for OE identities. It's up to you
how you want to work it.

Adding to what was already said:
Each Windows user has OE with a Main Identity. The Store Folder is
different for each user.
Each OE Main Identity can have a separate password.
A separate address book can be shared.

Thanks to both for your help. I think the problem will be that with only one OE identity for each windows user, the "exit and log off identity" option for closing OE is greyed out, so anyone can reopen OE within that user's settings even if a password has been set. If a user has two OE identities it is possible to "exit & log off" securely, so even if someone accesses the windows user screen they cannot open the OE identity without the password. I don't want to have Windows user passwords, just for OE - I may set up "dummy" OE identities just to make it possible to log off. The other way I have found is to attempt to "switch identities" which then offers a log-off option even if there is only one - but this seems a trifle long winded. Is it possible to reactivate "exit and log off" with only one identity??
