When I want to add a work or punctuation or any change in outlook express -
as I type - the letters I want to stay - disappear and are replaced with the
new characters. I have looked and looked for options in edit or compose -
everywhere - I an not fix this. I know how to fix it in word ...
Thanks

Tap the Insert key once and your problems are over. It toggles back and
forth between what you are seeing and what you want to see.

Insert key is keyborad shortcut turning on and off option that replaces
characters as one types ... I just learned this from a reply to a post. This
was good info - but how can I turn off the shortcut keys. These options pop
up when not wanted ... like this one and I'd rather do without these
'shortcuts'.
Thanks to Bruce Hagen for my initial answer about this option.

Get the Insert key where you want it, and the put a bead of Super Glue
around it to prevent it from happening again. It is /not/ a keyboard
shortcut, it is a key doing what it was meant to do. It only *popped up*
because it was accidentally tapped.
