I thought I had IE 6 on my machine.... windows ME. I have been having .dll
problems and windows crashing. I tried to install IE 6 and it says I need to
close all applications and try again.  I have all applications closed and
still it does not load.  What am I doing wrong?  The updates are current and
it keeps telling me I need the same IE6 service updates almost every day.
What can I do to get rid of IE5 and install IE6? This should not be this hard
but I am without a clue.  Thank you
Chris

Christine,

For the "unable to install all components" issue with WinME and IE6SP1, try
this:

Go to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View:
- Select "Show hidden files and folders", click Apply - OK

Create a folder named "Old uninstall".

Go to folder C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/Uninstall Information.

Now Edit - Select All - Cut all files.

Open "Old uninstall" folder and paste the files.

You will now be able to install all the troublesome components.

If everything works as expected, you can delete the "Old Uninstall" folder
and the files you moved.

Good luck,

Zee
