I have a continuing problem with downloading PDF files form the SPIRE website
of the DTI in UK.   I have ben told that this is because pop ups are blocked
on my computer.  I have tunred off the pop up blocker in IE and on the Google
toolbar and added the website as a trusted site.  I have also checked my
firewall (BullGuard - turning it off doesn't help)  I have now deleted the
Google toolbar but that hasn't helped either.  I am using Acrobat Reader 8,
IE6 and Windows XP.  The SPIRE helpline says I shoudl use Acrobat 7 but mine
has been updated and Adobe say 8 is backwards compatible.  I can open any PDF
files which are sent as email attachments or form other sites than SPIRE.
The SPIRE help line can offe no advice.  If I do this on my wife's computer
(Windows Vista and Acrobat 7) the PDF files form SPIRE open with no porblem.
All I get is a blank window with no error messages.

Can anyone help with this?

Many thanks

Mike

Can you open the reader first then test by opening the web site file ?

You might try uninstalling, then reinstalling Adobe Reader.  If you can't
uninstall, then consider using Windows Install Cleanup program.  It gets rid
of all traces of Adobe Reader for you and then you can reinstall.  I don't
know if this will solve your problem, but it did it for me when I had the
issue you described.
