I am running Win 98.  My IE 6.0 explorer locks up as soon as the default web
page comes up (google.com).  I was also having this problem with IE 5.0, so I
removed it and installed IE 6.0 but I have the exact same problem.
I can only exit IE by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete, where it tells me, IE is not
responding.  Then I close the program.
I am not having this lock up with anything other than IE.
Any idea what the problem could be?
Thanks.

Hi,
Do you have problems with other pages?

As a first step, clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General>
Delete files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's
often recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

Next, it's possible that malware is installed. Reinstalling or updating IE
doesn't remove malware.
