Well, I tried following those directions. I got as far as Registered File
Types. But I couldn't find EML Outlook Express. The only eml I had was EML
File. And the only outlook express was Outlook Express News Message.
When I tried originally to open the Outlook Express Mail Message Attachment,
my computer tried to do it with Adobe Acrobat. I have another computer,
virtually the same model, same programs, which opens the attachments with no
problem--now. I had written to the group about a year ago and got a
solution which quite stupidly I didn't save.

Select EML file and click Advanced.
Select Open and click Edit.
For application used to perform this action paste in
"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" /eml:%1
with the quotes and the space before /eml:%1
You should also get this update for your OE6 SP2:
There are two articles, KB918766 and KB918651, but the latter is not
currently available. The download link is

Before compacting it places a backup in Recycled, overwriting any earlier
backup of the
same folder(s). To use it, copy it to the store folder, delete the one you
want to replace and then rename the BAK file to DBX. (It's a bit more
complicated if the messed up DBX file isn't there or contains messages that
are hew that you want to keep.

Many thanks. I got it working. When I selected EML File there was no
option for advanced, but there was "Change." So I clicked that and found
Adobe Acrobat highlighted. All I had to do was selected Outlook Express,
which was listed right under Adobe. O, so easy--with expert guidance, of
course.
