HI,

I d like to setup my OE folder such that other users on my XP system can
read the mails in my OE folder.  But logging in my user logon will allow
writing and replying.

Right now, I have setup such that a backup software keeps copying my folder
to another common folder for other users.

Is there a better way to do this?  Ideally i d like the others to access my
same folder as a readonly folder.  is that possible?

Thanks
Ramesh

OE doesn't have any provisions that enable this.

NTFS file permissions could prevent them from writing in it.
Since what you are doing now doesn't prevent them from replying
and provided only one user at a time is allowed access to it
that might be just as good.

However, if more than one user can be logged on at a time,
trying to share files with OE probably would be problematic,
even if only one user is allowed to write to them.

Thansk Robert.

I will not need to deal with simultaneous access.

Yet I find that the Readonly user is not able to read the folders created by
me, while he is able to read the standard folders like Inbox, Sent items,
etc.

Any clue on that?

Thanks again.

Well, what are the permissions of the new .dbx?
Ignoring OE's quirks can the other users see them?
Can they open them in Notepad?
