My Daughter checked outlook express the other day, then logged off it.
I went back on to outlook express the next day to check my messages  and the
entire saved message files were missing, I mean the whole lot, not just one
or two messages, but all the inbox files, all my saved folders, sent items.
I went to system restore with the computer to see if the information could
be retrieved , but to no avail.
it is as though Outlook started again from when you setup the system from
scratch.
How can I retrieve the lost data if at all possible.
I have tried just about everything on the Microsoft help?

Check your Recycle Bin.
All your folders should be there as bak files.
Look at the information in the red box:

OE may have reset the location of the message store.  Search for *.dbx and
see here:  www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4  The files are hidden so you have to
enable showing hidden files and you also have to do an Advanced Search and
include hidden files in the search.
