can't send messages outlook express

I can recieve but I get
~The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's
e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'myhoodlums4@verizon.net'.
Subject 'would like to sample your product  ', Account:
'myhoodlums4_verizon_mail', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Authentication Required', Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78~
Please, any help

SMTP Authentication is becoming more common.  Your ISP requires this.
In OE this is specified in Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers,
Outgoing Mail Server, My Server Requires Authentication.

Check with Verizon for details.

do I check the "log on using secure password authentication"? Thanks so much
