Hi there...newbie here.
i have a question/emergency.
i recently updated to office xp service pack 3. the first night, everything
worked ok but when i shut down my computer, it downloaded more updates. now,
everytime i open outlook express, it asks me for a "main identity" password.
i have tried almost every password that i have ever had that was tied to
outlook express and nothing has worked. is this from the new service pack?
can i reset the password? or if i do figure out the password, will i get all
of my emails back? please help!

If you have a password, this program will find it.
Your emails are still there.
If this doesn't work, then let us know.

Your problem is being caused by your Office installation. Every time it
installs an update for Outlook it sets Outlook as the default mail program
rather than Outlook Express.
From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/defaultl.htm
Go to Start | Run and type this command, with the double quotes and spaces:
"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg
and then make sure that OE is selected as the default mail program in both
IE and OE.
If that isn't enough, see this article:
"Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098
You might also want to try this:
Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/oe_client.htm
To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the
following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
For more information on Outlook see:
