Hello:  I've been using Earthlink TotalAccess for the last couple of years.
I'm switching emails accounts from Earthlink and will be using OE6 with the
new account.  The Earthlink emails were saved in a .mdb file.  Is it possible
to import this into OE6?  I've tried going thru the File>import route but
seem to be coming up short.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

MShep

NO
Export them from earthlink to a .csv format and then import that into OE

The earthlink totalaccess allows me to convert the emails to .csv with no
problems.  I guess I'm missing something on the import into OE6.  When I try
to import, my choices are Eudora Pro or Light, MS Exchange, Internet Mail, IM
for Win. 3.1, Outlook, OE4, OE6, Win. Messaging, Netscape Comm. and Netscape
Mail.  When I try any of those options, I'm not able to locate the .csv file
I had saved the messages into.  For the expertise here, a minor thing, but
for me, I'm not making the connection on how to link it all together.  Would
the ABC Amber Access link provided assist in that, or am I missing something
right in front of me?

Thanks for the continued assistance.

csv files are for database or spreadsheet use.
You can save an address book as csv file.

It appears the .mdb files are a proprietary message storage format,
analogous to, but not the same as, MS Outlook Express .dbx files. Does
TotaAccess permit saving email messages as .eml files?

Looking at the support pages, here:

http://support.earthlink.net/tutorial/ta/email/

...TotalAccess can be configured to use a third party email client. Is MS
Outlook Express an option? Perhaps you should explore that.

Unfortunately, I am not an Earthlink customer, so I have no better ideas
than looking at help pages which don't refer to any application I have
running. Are there no Earthlink specific help forums?

There is a tricky way to move email from Earthlink Mailbox (part of Earthlink TotalAccess) to Outlook or Outlook Express.

1) Open Earthlink Mailbox.
2) Select all of the message in your Inbox (highlight them).
3) Click the Forward button to attach these emails to a message.
4)  Save this email (with all it's attachments) into your Drafts folder.  You will be prompted to save it there if you just click the "x to close it.
5) Open your Drafts folder, highlight the message you created, click "File" on the menu bar, and save the message as an EML file.
6) Move this EML file to your new computer and open it.
7) Open Outlook or Outlook Express.
8) Select all of the attachments in that EML you opened (they will be EML files as well) and drag them into the Inbox in Outlook that you have open.

Poof!  All of your messages will now be in Outlook!

Do a dance of joy.

Outlook isn't Outlook Express.

Why not just configure the Earthlink account in OE or OL in the first place?
