Lost my Inbox

I had a power outage and now OE6 is doing something strange.  My Inbox is
completely empty.  In the message store folder, there is an Inbox.dbx file
but also Inbox (1).dbx.  It looks as though it is using this second file. If
I delete it, OE simply recreates it. Is there anything that I can do to
force OE to go back to my original Inbox file?

Thanks for any suggestions

Use DBXtract (www.oehelp.com) to extract the messages to a Windows folder
and then drag them back into a user created folder in OE.

Do not store messages that you care about in the default OE folders ... you
will lose them.

Thanks Frank.

I stumbled across Abstract last night while goggling for a solution to the
problem. It did indeed retrieve the messages from the file.

I am still a bit alarmed, however, that my backup was of no value.  I would
still like to know if there is a way to get ONE to use Inbox.dab (even a new
empty one), rather than Inbox (1).dab. Any ideas?

1.  You did not mention any backup.

2.  Not sure what ONE refers to, but for getting OE to use Inbox.dbx instead
of Inbox (2).dbx, create a new identity and import from that.  Once Inbox
(1).dbx has been created that information is stored in Folders.dbx and
there's no way for the user to change it.  For getting user created files
back into an OE identity see the last paragraph here

ONE is OE when you have fat fingers.  Thanks for the help.
