Problem with address book

I hope this is the proper place to post this.  If not I apologize and ask for
help in getting this to the correct place.

Without making any changes (that I am aware of anyway) I can no longer
access the Windows Address Book.  I get a message that the Windows Address
book Cannot be opened and that it needs to be reinstalled.

How?  I can't find any instruction anywhere on how to do this and I've
looked for several days.  I keep getting sent to the same Knowledge Base and
download areas than have nothing to do with the problem I find after reading
the information.

Can any one help?  I can access the address book from a backup file called
Christmascardlist.wab from outside the program but not from Outlook or
Outlook Express directly.

Thanks any one for suggestions.

PA Bear... Thanks for your help.

I've since discovered that between the time I placed this contact request
and your answer which was very prompt, and I thank you for that, that the
version of 6.0 of Internet Explorer has been installed.  I had en3xpected
help from someone who knew I had a problem and decided that would fix it.
Which it didn't.

May I ask you for additional help solving the same problem, Address Book
Cannot Open.  Address book needs to be re-installed."  I am running Windows
XP Pro SP-2 with auto-update activated.

Outlook Express 6.0 was crashing until I renamed the the dbx folders to old
as suggested by one of the articles.  Now Outlook Express works without
crashing but I still cannot access the address book.  The last instructions
said it may need to be re-installed, but I can't find the program to
re-install it.  Is this what you suggest?  If so, where do I go to find the
program to re-install it.  I've found it on the C drive but don't know where
to get a copy to install.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Again thanks.....thanks a lot for your fhelp.

Answer the question in my first reply, please.  Also see the various KB

PA Bear,

The answer to your question is I am running Windows XP Professional with
Service Pack 2 installed.   I read the articles you sent and did what it
suggested when the article was for Internet Explorer 6.0.  I'll review again.

Again thanks.

Added information.  The reference should be to Outlook Express not Internet
Explorer in the last posting.  The phone rang and I lost my train of thought.
Sorry.  Again, thanks.

PA Bear ---

Thanks for all of the help.  I re-read everything you sent in the first
reply and redid a couple of the suggestions and now things are working O.K.
I really appreciate the help.

Again thanks a lot.
