email act password not retained in Outlook Express

Just reloaded XP, applied all MS updates, including getting IE 7, set up my
email acts in OE, but the login passwords are not being saved, even though I
have "save password" checked. So each time it tries to get mail from servers,
it prompts me for the passwords.

HELP, please, thx.
