Some companies, even my own bank, have contacted me by other means telling me
that they have sent me emails and I never receive them. I have SpamFighter
but none of the emails are routed to the spam folder. I have Outlook Express
and have no indication or idea of what emails I am not receiving. I do get
other emails but not all. Any help?
Thanks,
Mark JD

Turn off SpamFighter, check Blocked Senders, and uncheck any message rules
that Delete until you figure out the cause. We can only speculate.

I totally removed SpamFighter from my programs.  I guess I didn't even need
it as long as I have Mcafee Security provide free from my Comcast service
provider.  There was nothing checked off in my block senders/ message rules
list.
Now we will have to wait and see what I receive.
Thanks again, (so far)

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus.  Also exclude EML
files from the scan.  It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.  The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

WoW.... Thanks Frank!
That's the first I've heard of that about McAfee.  But without it, how will
my email be protected, just with OE?
Thanks again.

I would suggest either Avast, (freeware), or NOD32, (not free).

In the case of Avast, choose Custom Installation and under Resident
Protection, uncheck: Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange. I use Avast myself.

Avast:

NOD32:

Remove McAfee via Add/Remove and then run this tool.

I think i'll try the AVAST, but if you "uncheck: Internet Mail and
Outlook/Exchange" how will it protect my email?

The anti virus program protects you even without e-mail scanning, which
causes problems with OE. It was first developed by Symantec, after they bout
the company from Peter Norton, as a marketing device making people feel that
it was a superior product. The other companies were compelled to follow
suit.

Turning off e-mail scanning is safe. See:

Viral Irony: The Most Common Cause of Corruption.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx#EOAAC

And:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

And this is from Symantec, but applies to all anti-virus programs.

Is my computer still protected against viruses if I disable Email Scanning?

Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that
are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans
incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and
email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To
make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep
Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have
the most recent virus definitions.
