When i try to "send" an email ,outlook express shuts down & i am back
to my
desktop. If i write an email and do not hit "send", but go to "file"&
hit
"send later", the mail goes to the "outbox".If i then go to my tool
bar and
hit "send all" it works. This just started happening today. I receieve
email
normally
Any thoughts on a solution?

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.
