Hi all
I have Outlook 2003 installed along side Outlook Express. under Windows XP.
An application I use generates OE emails and doesn't work unless OE is set
as the default email handler at the time.
I have found the locations in both programs to identify them as the
default. In spite of turning off the default in Outlook, the default
setting in OE is greyed out.
I would be grateful if some one would tell me how to activate this field.

You post here using Windows Mail in Vista: Are you referring to a different
machine?
Assuming WinXP:
1. http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx; then...
2a. http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx
2b. (WinXP) [Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs >] Set Program Access and
Defaults > Email > ...
If still no joy, see:

Microsoft Outlook updates change the default mail handler to Microsoft
Outlook
