I need to download and trial software but the corporate computer I use
doesn't allow me to do this because of the corporate domain and the corporate
information on the file system.  Would it be possible to run a VPC on the
corporate machine (they would install and setup the VPC software) with a
local machine domain and a local filesystem with admin priviledges in the
local machine domain but not in the corporate domain? So that I would
basically have a VPC sandbox on the corporate computer.

Sure, that would work.

Any suggestions where I can direct our IS people to get information on
setting it up this way?

Thanks.

Very loosely, and very openly, I say:

If your IS people don't know how to do it, they should be fired and a
new group hired.  Users should not know more than the IT/IS people.
This is not an insult to the Users, nor to the IT/IS group -- but it
doesn't make sense for an IT/IS department to rely on the people they
support for information on how to do their own job.

Not really, the help files from Virtual PC is probably all they should
need.
