I'm running VPC 2007 but the hardware virtualization is greyed out. I have
an Intel Core 2 Duo 6750 running on a Foxconn G33M-S mobo with Vista
Business, HV is enabled in the bios but still no love, any idea's??

Thanks,
Martin.

Just wondering, is this the 64 bit version of Vista?

For one thing, you can only change that setting when the VM is totally
shut down. (not in a saved state)

I'm aware of this, but... it's still grayed out.

The only thing I can think of is the newer chipset motherboard and newer
Core 2 Duo CPU is recognized by VPC.

Is it enabled under File-->Options-->Hardware Virtualization?  This
needs to be enabled first.

Nope, it's grayed out...

After enabling HV in the BIOS did you do a hard power cycle?

It's been enabled in the bios ever since I built the computer about a month
ago. It's had many, many, many hard power cycles!!!

This looks like it should be working.  Have you checked to see if there
is an updated BIOS available for your motherboard?

Yep, I have the latest bios from the 18th of last month...

I agree with you, it should be working, but it's not... :-(

I've noticed that VPC 2007 is reporting that my C2D 6750 is a Pentium III
class CPU, which is probably why HV isn't working. What CPU is VPC seeing on
other computers?

No, that's not it.  VPC doesn't report C2Ds.  IIRC, there were no C2Ds
when VPC was released.

That is how my X6800 and q6600 are reported and HV works fine on both.
The biggest issue with HV and VPC has been buggy BIOS implementations.
It took Toshiba almost a year to get it worked out on some of their
notebooks/tablets.

Well, just got a bios update for my Faxconn G33M-S mobo today and now the HV
works fine...

Thanks for the follow-up.  Glad you're working
