Hi,
On an external HDD, I have a backup of a previous system, made with the
Complete PC Backup utility of Windows Vista Ultimate. This was a
"normal" PC install, not a virtual PC.
I wanted to see what's on the virtual disks (2 VHD files, one for each
partition I had on my PC back then). I figures I could run a copy of
Windows Vista in Virtual PC, and set the VHDs as secondary and tertiary
drives.
Well, it worked. But...only for 1 of the virtual disks. By setting it as
the secondary HDD, it shows up in Explorer in the virtual PC, and I can
browse it and copy files.
However, the other VHD, which I set up as the tertiary drive for the
VPC, shows up in Explorer. But I can't do anything with it, because it
seems to be in the "RAW" format.
Is there anything I can do to make this VHD useable again, so I can see
what's on the disk and copy the files I want to keep to somewhere else?

Is there anyway that you could use the Complete backup tool to confirm
that the VHD is still valid?

I have no idea. I don't use Complete Backup anymore, since I switched to
Acronis True Image.
I did try to see if the Complete Backup Tool was still of any use, but
it complained that is was not set up yet on this computer. And that's
right, because I haven't used it and am not planning to do so.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. :-)

You can open VHD and VUD files using WinImage (version 8 and up). You
can also extract files from the image using that tool.
But you cannot write files to the image.
