Hi,
I'm in the process of installing XP 64 Professional on my laptop.

The laptop specs are as follows:

Acer Aspire 5520.
Turion 64 x2.
4GB ram.

Any tips about optimising this build to run VPCs? I have some pretty
resource-hungry SharePoint VPCs that run very badly on a normal
laptop. I'm building up this acer to be my main demo box.

Should I be looking at Virtual Server or Virtual PC?

Thanks!

Given the RAM you have available as well as the CPU the best suggestion for
how to improve performance is to run your guests from a second drive. In
order of performance you should look at:

1. eSATA
2. Firewire
3. USB

You're going to want the fastest drive(s) you can get (7200 RPM) with the
biggest amount of cache you can get. Running your guests on a drive where
they don't have to be in contention with the operating system makes a big
difference in performance.

This shouldn't make a huge difference in perf though since both are free
you may want to benchmark each of them. Personally, for demos, I tend to
use VPC simply because the interface, for me at least, is easier to use in
a demo scenario.
